Gwithian, Hayle

Cornwall, TR27 5BX

Gwithian is a small village situated in St Ives Bay, with 3 miles of undistrupted golden sands. There is a church, chapel, and pub in the village which serves food and Real Ale, there are also several other licensed places to eat all within easy walking distance from the campsite. Gwithian beach is well known for its fishing, beach and water sports facilities. A bus service runs through the village to Newquay and St Ives from a bus stop opposite the pub.

Hayle is situated in St Ives Bay’s 3 miles of golden sands. ‘The Sand Dunes’ area which stretches from Gwithian to Hayle, is the second largest in Cornwall and is enjoyed by many walkers. Off the main roundabout, Hayle has a Retail Park which includes M&S, Boots, Next and Costa Coffee. The town itself has a couple of supermarkets, numerous shops and charming local businesses, an array of restaurants, takeaway facilities and a main line train station with direct links between London Paddington and Penzance.

The infamous coastal town of St Ives is situated at the other end of the bay from Gwithian. Its quaint cobbled streets are filled with world rennownded art galleries, high quality restaurants, shops and boutiques as well as the Tate Gallery over looking Porthmeor beach. The town also has a modern leisure centre and a multi screen cinema. St Ives is easily accessible by car or bus but we highly recommend the Park and Ride scenic train trip which leaves Lelant Saltings every 30 mins.

Mounts Bay stretches from Marazion to Mousehole with the coastal towns of Penzance and Newlyn in between. St Michael’s Mount dates back to the 12th century but the castle is still in use today! It is a popular tourist attraction that is reached from Marazion by foot along the causeway (tide depending!) or boat that with pick up points signposted. Penzance is a busy town offering varied shopping, amusements and a fully furbished leisure centre.

Eating out nearby…

We look forward to welcoming you to Gwithian very soon!
